I was blown away when VS code appeared to take over the world for like all of my dev friends were like, oh, we use VS code. And then they open source their entire dot net framework, which was absolutely shocking. Now we live in a completely different world where Oracle owns everything Java, but it has multiple languages,. But you're kind of stuck. It's becoming more it feels to me like it's becoming more and more closed off because you've got to pay the Oracle tax.
