I think for the neutral France losing is made easier by the fact that they won it four years ago and even individuals like Mbappe having no qualms. Broadly these aren't the sort of guys that the neutral are going to be shedding too many tears for. Maybe next time because I sort of think that they work up finally it is a shame to get decided by a penalty shoot out just sort of on a sporting sense. My memory of extra time was realising that France were basically playing 4-2-4 with Camar Vinger at left back and Argentina in midfield.
