Hegel's Dialectic Approach to History

Hegel's view of history is a kind of idealism in the sense that it relates to ideas and thinking. Ideas make a big difference to history as far as Hegel's concerned. He says these ideas are then played out in this broadly dialectical manner. The French revolution could by the nature of its inner logic if you like have no leader and could only degenerate into the kind of senseless killing he diagnosed.
