The Rise and Fall of Madonna's Feminism
In 1990, Camille Poglia published an op-ed in The New York Times declaring that Madonna was a true feminist. In Playboy, Kelly came up with a new adjective for Madonna's version of feminism: Slut feminism. A slut feminist was actually worse than a regular feminist, because she could confuse men into getting aroused before they realized she was going to use her power to take away their power. It is a cheap and tawdry little philosophy, born of anger, cynicism and on-wee, just right for today.
