Melanie Mackay-Cody: A Native American Scholar

Melanie Mackay-Cody grew up in Sulphur, Oklahoma. She went to Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., where she studied American history and art history. There was no Native faculty at Gallaudet so she worked with the anthropology lab doing research on Indian and Native things like pottery. "I think it was really a spirit calling that I had to really analyze these rock writings," she says.
