What Is the Self and Identity?

Self and identity are used in different ways by different people, some use them almost interchangeably. The self might be the psychological processes that produce it, and would include your self concept. O a lot of the things that are really important, central concerns for the self is kind of a literal definition of identity. Those are all dependent on social interaction. So the self, too, an identity, is very much a tool for connecting with other people. It's what our species evolve to do. And it's our strategy for survival and reproduction. As social animals we need to connect with others.
