The Importance of Being a Pioneer
Renee was born in 1934 and grew up in Sunnyside Queens, New York. She started playing tennis seriously at age 10; she had always loved shining balls for her dad when he played. Around that time in her teenage years, she found a book of her mothers that described transsexualism as a disorder. So she says that event marked the beginning of a full-scale effort to do away with Renee.
