Several studies have been published showing that lo lo training with bloodflow restriction can cause very, very substantial amounts of muscle damage. If you use kind of a fixed rep protocol that generally doesn't result in failure, you probably won't experience that much muscle damage. A systematic review looked at whether there were elevated markers of muscle damage following a blood flow restricted resistance training. delayed onset muscle soreness was the most common marker of muscle damage they looked at.
