The Young Republicans
Derek and his brother were in a band called the Young Republicans. Their first gig was at Redwood High School for lunchtime. They covered Mr. Rogers' Be Brave and Then Be Strong, which is still one of their favorites. The Ramones kicked into 70s rock with "China Grove," he says.
