When it's chronic in humans, it looks like feeling exhausted, detached, numb, disconnected, or mentally foggy. This looks a lot like depression, too. In one session with my client, Mary, she was going through the process of the trial of her stepfather and she was just saying over and over, I'm so angry at him. By moving her body around, we were able to shift her from shutdown mode into a more activated state.
