The Politics of Resignation in the Academic Context
There's this kind of invigoration that is triggered in leaving or in the call to leave. There's something strange to it because if the only logical conclusion to the mounting concerns of a labor of precarity in academia or elsewhere is to resign, right? It's just that doesn't work anymore. And I think there's a strong correspondence between those who leave and what sociologists Rosalind Gill has called the hidden injuries of neoliberal academia. So you first need to identify in order to step away from whatever from your from your parents or from your cultural environment and so on. To complain might not hold a hope for change, but it does give a response to the complaint itself.
