When the economy is growing quickly there's just more wealth to go around so a lot of problems a can be solved by by sharing some of the wealth. The US government doesn't really have that process where we say okay we're going to default on 30% of Social Security 20% of Medicare and 80% of defense contracts or something like that it'd be nice if we didn't just aren't set up to do that. Eric Weinstein: What's better for reducing violence than economic inequality? He says getting richer faster tends to increase economic inequality but also curbs violence.
