CNN's John Sutter looks at a book about shipwrecks and survivors. He says the groups that typically fared best were those that had good leadership in the form of mild hierarchy, without any brutality. The successful ship society shared food equitably,. took care of the sick and injured. Survivors worked together, drilling wells, burying the dead, building fires and building escape boats. To me, i love this because it shows the complexity of human nature.
