Is the Met Transferable to Different Populations?

The met is a standardized amount of oxygen consumption per kilogram of body mass per minute. There are many papers explaining exactly why that number doesn't transfer to a variety of populations. A, but it kind of doesn't matter that much if you're just using it as a broad metric for identifying different general activity levels. It still has utility within that context. I would not use it for individualized calculations of energy cost of a specific exercise. Bouta, there are better ways to do that.
