Nietzsche - The Origin of the Greeks, or Merely Projected on Them?

Lunga, Uberveg and the other Neo-Contians saw the Greeks as valuable. They're the first ones daring to liberate philosophical thought from superstition, allowing the advent of materialism,. And yet, these people who were saying this are themselves materialists. So couldn't we accuse them of doing what Nietzsche criticized the classicists for doing, simply projecting their own views onto the subject of their research? LZ: It's through the interaction of his mind with the Greeks that these ideas emerged. But by understanding the dialogue and the evolution of how philosophers tended to look at the Greeks, we can better understand where he saw himself entering this dialogue.
