Kathy Hochl is trying to have the state preempt local zoning require dense development around transit stations and suburbs that have been resistant to multifamily development. She's an interesting area politically for her because at least some of this is appealing both to political progressives and to certain business interests who share an interest in causing more housing development, she says. The upzoning politics I think are very good overall for Kathy Hochl as it's something the real estate industry absolutely wants the opportunity to build in the suburbs.
