The History of Ninjas
The history of ninjas is so deeply tangled up in Japanese folklore that separating the fact from the fiction can seem nigh on impossible. The first true ninjas can trace their roots to the Senghoku Jide, or Warring States Period in Japanese history. Before this point, Japan had been ruled by emperors from the famous Yamoto clan who claimed to be descended from the Sun Goddess Amoratsu.
