The Importance of Feminist Perspectives on Barbie
The movie ends with Barbie saying she'd rather have a real life than be plastic. Some people thought it ended up being a statement against feminism, but that's not the true story. The Matrix movies were so contradictory they just couldn't know how to pull off their stories. And I think that at some level, maybe that's the story of Barbie here.
