Myra Kilbride was more upset about her dog accidentally being killed than anything regarding the children at all. She requested hair dye while she was in jail, and they denied her, and that's what she was upset about. The judge Fenton Atkinson declared the newspaper's actions as gross interference with the court of justice. Ian admitted to assaulting Edward with a hatchet, but claimed that someone else killed him. As for Myra's testimony, she tried to make it look like she was an unwilling accomplice; police used her own words against her.
