The Different Views of Utilitarianism
I think we do access reality through our own sort of lens, right? And often, we're unaware of the fact that we have this unique way of looking at it. So I think your conceptual skills are much sharper because you've had to think conception instead of visually. We spoke to another philosopher friend recently who said utilitarianism brings up an image and he immediately had a whole bunch of vivid images. For you, that was a good example of a conceptual thing that doesn't refer to any particular object in the world. But for him, being a visual person, he could imagine scales or something like that weighing up consequences. That's the useful way of understanding terminology.
