The Importance of Human Interface Guidelines in App Development

The old Mac mantra that goes all the way back to the 80s and the original Mac that consistency is an advantage for users. The thing that I think gets so overlooked in the modern world where that's sort of fallen by the wayside with web apps not having any one true pig. Human brains pick up on idioms in the same way that they pick up on grammar and the same way you pick up on social cues like if you join a new club or group, your brain absorbs those things then you don't have to think about it.
