The Supreme Court's Case for a Quorum
A Supreme Court justices position as a justice is not actually finalized when the Senate votes their confirmation, right? That it doesn't actually become finalized until their commission is signed. And so what that means in practice is that by the time the Senate confirms a nominee, the opposing party now is the active president. The Speaker of the House from an opposing party is now the active president and under absolutely no obligation to sign the commission. It's just settled beyond per adventure.
