Each of the three characters in the book all give birth in a different place from where they started or planned to. "I did not expect that each and every one of them would move locations," she said. She was at Jillian's birth, like I was in the birth cottage at her birth but then find out that Tanika gave birth on the same day too. The unpredictability of birth is something I engaged with a lot as a theme in the book."
