Introduction

Friction is the force that opposes motion. Usually when we say there's friction, we're talking about a conflict. Which can make friction sound like a bad thing. Friction very much has a bad reputation. It comes from the definition itself. You know, resistance to motion. Maybe I should start a campaign to try to raise awareness around the fact that friction's a good thing. The reason our cars don't slide off the road. It's the reason we don't fall on our face. We do need friction.
