Wasps - A Caricature of a Wasp?

White anglo saxon protestants are a stereotype of someone who wears polo shirts, they went to boarding schools and ivyly colleges. The original was the group that i trace in my book, emerged after the civil war. They were descended from earlier american elites, but found themselves overshadowed by new groups of people. Their beef with the gilded age was not just with what they saw as the corruption and crassness of neuveriche characters like the vanderbilts. It was also, in part, a feeling that with the growth of industrial civilization, something was changing in human character.
