The Boar's Hair Is Wiggled, Right?

At the time, I think he called it a natural stenography. And so what happened is that boar's hair, bristle, would wiggle and vibrate along to match whatever sound he was making. It drew basically what Dave refers to, I think astutely as a sonic fingerprint. Through that soot, it drew sort of the visual representation of sound for the first time.
