What Is Effectiveness in Medicine?

What is effectiveness in medicine? How is it measured? And are these measurements limited in some way as well? Okay, so there's a very standard distinction in medical science between this concept of efficacy and the concept of effectiveness. The way it tends to be measured now is we make inferences about effectiveness based on efficacy. So if we measure some effect size in the trial, and we want to know how big is the effect size going to be in the clinic, we ought to downgrade our estimates of effectiveness.
