Ernest Lawrence and the Nation of Islam
Ernest Withers worked for the FBI from 1961 to 1967 as a paid informant. He was originally called 338-R, but then he got upgraded to be like a racial informant. The Memphis Police Department didn't want him because of his work with them in the '60s. After four years they made him a confidential source, which is sort of a lesser informant,. but he was doing really kind of the same thing for them for four years.
