The Importance of Grace in the Gospel
We often are, we are transposing a 21st century understanding of perfection on what Jesus is saying. For this man to be considered one that was a member of the kingdom, it had something to do with him turning from the idol of money. Something in this man's heart, Jesus was perceptive of that he called out immediately. Perhaps the interpretation of the text is God showing that demonstrating his generosity to the poor had huge implications for whether or not he actually believed in Jesus.
