The UN is currently projecting that the global population will peak at around 8.3 billion in 2050 and then fall to less than the current 7.2 billion population by 2100. "There's actually increasingly few countries whose fertility rate is above replacement, and many countries where their fertility rate is substantially below replacement," says David Frum.
