I hate the term self-defense because when we look at things, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation is to avoid something bad happening. I think what you said is, take your insecurities about your body and get good at something, put it into a skill or a vocation so you can focus on functionality and the use of this body you have rather than the look. So with self-defense, I'm saying, hey, let's get you better at martial arts so that if someone tries to rape you or beat you up, you can fight them. They're then looking to improve a skill to avoided something bad happening which isn't from a mindset perspective is what it should be
