CHAPTER

Why Are Polar Bears So Huge?

Polar bears need sea ice as a hunting platform to hunt for ring seals, which are the most numerous seal in the world. When montpinatubo erupted in the philippines, it threw up huge amounts of volcanic ash into the atmosphere. This meant that polar bear were able to stay out longer than would usually happen. And so they came out with healthier cubs - and this was directly linked to forest fires being affected by mount pinatubo. The cut-rate version will be available on iTunes later today.
