How to Explain Death to a Preschooler

At any age, I really feel strongly that children need some kind of information at least about physically what happens when a body dies and ideally about the cause of death. So for a preschool child, I would probably start very simple and with elementary school children and older, you can build on that same explanation and flesh it out. A really good simple way of talking about death with a preschool age child is to say, you know, Uncle John died today. For an older child, I think you can have a very similar explanation based on your understanding of where they're at with understanding death.
