Sports books are wary of taking bets from the professionals, but they also find ways to use what the sharps want to do to their advantage. If all of a sudden sharps are coming in and betting lots of money on, say, the giants plus six and a half, well, they're going to move the line. They're going to change the line to it less appealing for those sharp betters, while still keeping it super appealing to the casual better who just goes to throw his money down either way.
