When i hear, specially international relation scholars, talk about afghanistan, it's this idea that there was nothing there that they couldn't govern themselves. And what blows me away about your work is that you point out that there was a lot more substan there in terms of institutions and governments. The international community never wanted them to be integrated. So here we're taking afghanistan seriously, trying to understand how it's governed. I came from an aid back where i had thought their work was going to be very, very effective. But then i saw how resilient communities were.
