I think she threads this needle between placing her songs sort of in the setting of an emotion versus like setting them in an actual like time and place. Like I literally checked the lyric book to make sure she said hang you know because it's just like so conversational as opposed to gravity of the scenario she's describing. She says if a man can't see his shadow he can block your son all day. He has the power to take his love away. Sometimes it takes me a little bit longer to sort of fall into a platitude or just a simple idea about love or a relationship. So it took me a while hearing that song several times before I took a listen to that line and
