The Mimamsa Argument for the Universal Meaning of Words

Mimamsa argues that even if one can learn the meaning of individual new words, there is no way to introduce language as such. Children who are learning to talk have to discover the meaning of each word by seeing how their elders talk. A more basic point about ritual injunctions takes us back to the core of Mimamsa's mission: to inquire into Vedic language.
