Dreams and Western Esotericism

In this episode, we ruminate on dreams and their role in Western esotericism. We'll talk about the Bronze Age worldview that we find in the Homeric poems. And then move into later Greco-Roman thought about dreams. Dreams are one of the chief ways for the gods and the dead to communicate with humans directly. Other dreams are simply phantasms, which can be either pretty meaningless or intentionally false. The human personality quickly descends into psychosis when deprived of normal healthy dreaming. Our rational consciousness is built on the irrational foundation of dreams.
