Investing Directly in an Index Fund

A fund is a grouping of stocks or investable assets that the investor can invest in. So you actually can't invest directly into an index. You have to invest in a fund that holds the stocks that make up the index. Daniel: By buying an index fund, you are theoretically investing directly in the index.
