The Importance of Time Pressure in Decision Making
In a simulation, people were asked to choose between attacking North Korea or not. They chose the worst option because they didn't know what else was out there. This is true for almost every choice in our life and we can calibrate that by giving them different options with different levels of severity. Who speaks in what order makes a big difference too - if you're more junior than someone who says 'we should do A', you are much more likely to accept their decision.
