The Perpetual Piece and Kant's Sense of Humor

Kant says he's painfully aware of the fact that perpetual piece has long been thought of in these terms as an unrealistic idea. He begs the ruler who might read this essay not to hold it against him and basically says yeah um you're right all the political theorists are being ridiculous so there's no need to see this as a threat to your rule i'm just another theorist. Kant gives a number of preliminary prescriptions that he believes would create the situation in which a perpetual piece could arise.
