The human brain is immensely complex, non linear. And the way in which we react to objective improvements is anything but a neat mapping from one to the other. The improvement you generate by making a train faster entirely depends on whether you're reducing a journey from four hours to two. In a four hour trip, i don't think i've ever been to edinburgh for a business meeting there and back in the same day by train. That will be kind of crazy, ok? Beause you spend ten hours on a train and two hours in a meeting. On the other hand, if you reduce a journey from two hours to one, i would argue, this is my case against high speed
