Franklin's Myths About Slavery
In his lifetime, franklin bought and owned slaves that worked in his print shop. He submitted the first petition to congress asking for the abolition of slavery. But he never freed one of the enslaved people that he or his family owned. In his will at his death, he made a point: my son owns a man, or holds a man, who owes me massive debt; he has to release this man named bob by order of law.
