Reverse dominance hierarchy is clearly a sophisticated, intentional response to people trying to get too much power. I don't thinkthat the evolutionary anthropologists are arguing tat that humans didn't ever have power seeking. Yetn i'm very happy to entertain these hypothesesand let them inspire us. But like you say, healthy scepticism makes sense because the data are not enough to really constrain things.
