Bob Greene: With Russia, we should look at the behaviors of theirs that were predictable. But with China, he says, we should not let them do what great powers naturally do. And in Russia's case,we should accommodate what we know great powers will do and care about. He says it is remarkably foolish from a balance of power point of view to be pushing the Russians into the arms of the Chinese. Greene: If you go over to Russia, there's no chance of Russia becoming a regional hegemon. They don't have the military capability. So China is a real threat to the United States. A threat that the United States actually helped create.
