The History of Reservation in India
In the eighteenth century, under the british radge, indians were only allowed in lower administration ranks. Uppercast hindus with access to english education filled up these posts. Moslems were also sidelined by these policies. Reservation in education and public service began in the madras presidency in 18 31. The princely state of kolakur of present de maharasta introduced reservations in 19 hundred two for non brahmhins. It was extended to siks, indian christians, anglo indians and europeans by the government of india act 19 nine. Some academics say that the united states offormative action was inspired by india's reservation
