I can pick up my phone and i can conjure a meal by pressing a button. Your phone as remote control for pretty much every desire you have. And you can also capture moments that are meaningful to you, sound and video and audio and stell photos. The resolution of those captures keeps getting better and better. It is physically possible to be able to capture smell. Those are just organic compounds that you could do with mass spectrometry,. But it's something the size of a giant desk top or bench top machine.
