Before the invention of writing, any conversation is inherently ephemeral. There's always going to be a link back to that contextual moment. And it's very unclear how like how this works with a language model who has no fixed sense of self, no context, no social world, no friends. It's so obvious that that's what writing is about that we kind of forget.
