At 11 I began to think that something was not as it appeared to be. someone has out of the blue gone and done something which was completely inconceivable and why would they do that. my parents relationship to power power structures and to politics was always more ambiguous and evasive and strange. There's a sort of mystery threading through the first half of the book about your family biography which you tell tell delightfully. It turns out you're not you were not quite the person you thought you were yeah.
