The Imperfectionist Story of Wimbledon
Wimbledon was able to create an insurance against bad potential bad events. The probability in any one year that a pandemic would occur, especially when there since there hadn't been a major pandemic since the 1917, 17 influenza epidemic, was only a couple of million dollars a year. When the pandemic came along and they had to cancel Wimbledon, not only did it not devastate them financially, they were actually able to make payments to almost all the players as well.
